In Kircher Study #3 Palmer uses a needle and thread to explore the relationship of repetitive geometric lines in a rainbow of coloured silks. The layout of connecting points was first inspired by a graph drawn by Athanasius Kircher, a 17th century polymath. Palmer has further explored the shapes obtained and uses them in new ways to push the boundaries of textile art.

The canvas is painted in acrylic titanium white and the lines are created using a fine silk yarn.

Wire at back, ready to hang.
